In my own defense, I'm lazy and I've been busy and then out of town. But as a late update on that my last entry, I talked it over with Michael that night and we worked it all out. And things are good in that respect. So now, we've started a new volunteer year, and the house is alive with six women and Michael. We talk about "Michael's Harem." He doesn't mind. One of the women who lives here is a Republican, but far worse, she's a racist. She has bought in hook, line, and sinker the culture of fear that our society sells. She's worried that Islam is going to take over America and that we'll have to pray five times daily. She talks about "those people" in reference to blacks and well, anyone else with dark skin, and she rolled up her window when a guy selling roses walked by. It was like a scene out of Office Space. Other than those tendencies, I like her a lot, which causes a bit of cognitive dissonance within me, because how can I like a racist? We disagree about a lot of things fundamentally, and she reminds me of my grandfather. I like both of those things. Neither of us are abrasive about the things we disagree on, so we have interesting discussions sometimes. Oh, her name is Helen. Michelle, I am convinced, is also a Pagan Catholic. I'm going to get her to admit this to me sometime, because it would be nice to have someone other than Michael and John who know about it here. She's a cool woman. One of the first things she asked me (in the elevator at the airport) was if I read much. My eyes lit up because I already knew the answer, but I asked her what kind of books, and she said she read Sci-fi/Fantasy mostly. Woohoo! Suji is sweet beyond belief, and a bit ditzy. Not the ditzy part, but most everything else about her reminds me of Autumn. I really need to write her. I miss her so much. Janet is a fifty-year-old with no self-esteem who wants to change everythinga bout her life, and I have a feeling that she might try to take financial advantage of the claretians, specifically through the health insurance policy. I really don't like this woman. Maybe it's not fair of me, but she annoys the heck out of me. She's so needy and stupid and her general personality actually bothers me more than Helen's racist tendencies. WTF, mate? Michael's still great, and Daena's still great. We're the returning vols and life is alright. I don't have anything else to say right now. Love ya, bye!
