I had a good New Year's Eve to end a good year.

It had started on kind of a down note as i left REACH after finding out my bosses had been embezzling from the organization, among other things. But then I went back to Wing Zone and thus began my year of party in Murfreesboro.

I made a lot of friends, drank a lot of alcohol, smoked a lot of pot. I'm not currently in contact with any of the friends that I made during that time.

Which leads me to resolution number one: get in contact with those and other people.

The year rounded off with me coming to Chicago, infulfillment of my lifelong dream of going out and saving the world. So, it's not saved yet, but I'm workin on it- slowly but surely.

Resolution number two: improve my Spanish, work on being more assertive so that I can save the world faster.

Granted, that's two separate things, but I"m lumping them together, because I want to.

Last year I resolved to finish my novel.

Well, on Chapter 17, I had a major epiphany and started the whole damn thing over. It is now a completed rough draft, and is so much better than the up-to-Chapter-17 first draft I had had.

Resolution number 3: finish that goddamn novel!

Probably everyone who reads this knows that I'm working on some Harry Potter slash at fanfiction.net. But if you didn't know that, my username is tangledhair. you can do a search for me and read my work and leave reviews. I kind of started this one long-term work as a means to relieve stress, as a means of restoring my fantasy (which had received a good kick in the gut after reading wintermoon2's Blast From the Past, also at fanfiction.net), and basically, just for fun. All of those goals have been met, but also, I've found that this "recreational writing" as I call it, has greatly improved my writing style. I"m doing better with dialogue now, which has always been the bane of my writing existance. But one thing it has taught me is that I really need to have fun with my writing, because when it's just novel novel novel, finish the goddamn novel, all the time, I get so burnt out with it.

My New Year's REsolution number whatever number I'm on now is: to have fun with whatever is work, because I love it and don't want to get burnt out before i save the world.

Yesterday was Valerie's birthday. She's the 50 year old crazy woman who lives with us who I don't always get along with. Regardless, Michael and I went and bought her a cake, and a case of diet coke, which she loves (think The Eyes of Tammy Faye). They were out when we arrived with the stuff, so we put it on her and Phil's bed, complete with candles (not lit). When they got home, Michael and I were upstairs in bed, not doing anything, but recently having done something. The back stairs lead straight up into our bedroom, so nobody uses those except us, or anyone who needs to get into the attic, which is also off of our bedroom. We heard them coming up the stairs and started scrambling for covers, when we heard Valerie call out, "Kati, Michael?"

"Yeah?"

"Can we come up?"

Michael says, "No, not right now."

Valerie kind of laughed, and just called up the stairs, "Okay, well thankyou so much!"

Phil, who can't hear very well, especially since he currently has a sinus infection in his good ear, hadn't heard that they couldn't go up. Apparently Valerie was motioning to him that they should leave, because Phil says, "What? Oh. Oh, Are you guys naked?"

And you really have to know Phil to understand why it was okay for this 60-year-old man to ask us this. But it really was. So we just called back, "Yeah."

Then we curled up together.

My next resolution is to be naked with my boy more. Because it's nice.

That's all I've come up with yet.
